Last Friday, Madison was goofing around on the ice and fell on her wrist. She has continued to baby it and complain since then so today I brought her in to the clinic to have it looked at.
The doctor found obvious tender points and her x-ray was a little concerning. Nothing obvious, but a small anomaly that MIGHT represent a small fracture in her growth plate.
So, according to the Dr. NO hockey for the next week. She is to return to see him again next Monday and have another x-ray done. We are also to get her fitted for a wrist splint ( we didn't today because Savannah was already 45 minutes late for hockey tryouts). She is a little bit upset, but I think she will be just fine. Coach told Richard to tell her not to worry that he will assess her skills when she is able to return to skating per the Doctor.
Savannah was late to tryouts today, Richard had gone to watch and informed coach that we were late due to Dr. Appts and he was fine with that. In the little she got to skate today she was able to head off on a breakaway when one of the older girls caused a penalty so Savannah got a penalty shot.
We have told her that her strengths are her speed, and her aggressiveness especially when it comes to back checking and fighting for the puck in the corner. She is going to try to play up those strengths this week during tryouts. So, we will see.
Wish her luck!
Poor Maddie, and tell Vannah Auntie Jen says goodluck!
